About this Toshiba Fire TV list
Header: Toshiba Fire TV (AFTHA004, codename hazel), Fire OS 7 / Android 9 (SDK 28), build PS7717.5741N.0036408028416
Contributed by umang350 (PR #4). Also a fair start for other Toshiba / Insignia Fire TV Edition sets on Fire OS 7. FIRE OS: DEBLOAT ONLY. Fire OS will not let a third-party launcher take over Home: com.amazon.tv.launcher and com.amazon.firehomestarter are protected packages (pm disable-user is refused), their HOME filter has priority 950, and `cmd package set-home-activity` prints Success but is ignored. launcher/build-and-install.sh does not apply here; this list removes Amazon's ads, telemetry and preloads around the stock home screen. (restore.sh re-enables the stock launcher as a matter of routine; on Fire OS it was never disabled, which is harmless.) Kept on purpose: Alexa, OTA updates, AirPlay, DIAL/whisperplay (Netflix and YouTube casting), the streaming apps this owner uses (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Plex, VLC, MX Player) and the stock launcher. Two packages tried on this set would not disable (protected): com.amazon.device.metrics and com.amazon.ftvads.deeplinking. They are left out; the Insignia list mentions the same two.
Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the Toshiba Fire TV debloat
Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:
export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/toshiba-fire-tv-aftha004/debloat.txt Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "Toshiba Fire TV" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.
Restore the Toshiba Fire TV
TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/toshiba-fire-tv-aftha004/debloat.txt The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Fire TV debloat guide.
