About this Sony BRAVIA 9 II list
Header: Sony BRAVIA 9 II, K-65XR90M2 (2026, device BRAVIA_AE3, product BRAVIA_AE3_PA, MediaTek MT5838 / mt5897)
Google TV 14 (API 34), build UKN4.250422.001 603100, security patch 2026-07-05. 4.5 GB RAM. (restore.sh defaults to tvlauncher, which this TV does not have: pass launcherx) Applied in small batches on 2026-10-19 with a screenshot and crash-log check after each, then the launcher installed and Home, Inputs, the Input key and voice checked the same evening. Not yet lived with for days; if something breaks, re-enable it with `pm enable <package>` and please report it. Connecting: USB debugging alone leaves port 5555 closed. Pair once with the stock adb through Developer options > Wireless debugging > Pair device with pairing code (`adb mdns services` shows the pairing port), `adb connect <ip>:<connect port>`, then `adb tcpip 5555`. tools/tv.py works from then on. Developer options: Settings > System > About > "Android TV OS build" (not "Android TV OS version", which only shows the Android logo). Stock launcher: com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx; com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith also claims HOME (priority 1), so it is in this list. Keep: com.mediatek.external (HDMI inputs), com.mediatek.tis (analog), com.sony.dtv.tvinput.dvbtuner, com.sony.dtv.tvlin (Live TV / input player), braviasync*, sonysystemservice, settingsprovider, imeproxy, irblaster/irbservice and com.uei.quicksetsdk (IR blaster), sensingcamera.* (BRAVIA CAM), all com.mediatek.*. Left alone on purpose: com.sony.dtv.b2b.* (pro mode), webapi (IP control), interactivetvutil (voice logging, but also voice plumbing), fingerprinterserver/usercontext/lastaccess/crashlogcollector (purpose unclear from their components). Kept by owner's choice: Sony firmware updates, AirPlay (com.sony.dtv.airplayapp), voice / Gemini (katniss, assistantadapter, voicesearch), all streaming apps. Launcher notes from this firmware (verified on the TV, 2026-10-19): - config.xml: live_tv_package and hidden_apps = com.sony.dtv.tvlin. Its VIEW filter matches by MIME type only, so `resolve-activity` on a passthrough URI says "No activity found" unless you add -t vnd.android.cursor.item/channel; the launcher sends the type and HDMI 1-4 + Live TV work. - The remote's Input key opens Sony's own bottom panel (a system overlay, independent of launcherx): INPUT_KEY_SERVICE is not needed. - Voice / Gemini keep working without launcherx: ASSISTANT role, ASSIST and SEARCH all resolve to com.google.android.katniss. (The Gemini *tab* is part of launcherx and goes away with it.) - The TV has a hardware mic privacy switch; "Microphone is blocked" means that switch, not the debloat.
Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the Sony BRAVIA 9 II debloat
Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:
export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/sony-bravia-9-ii/debloat.txt Then build and install the clean launcher, which makes itself the default Home and rolls back if it fails:
TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 launcher/build-and-install.sh Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "Sony BRAVIA 9 II" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.
Restore the Sony BRAVIA 9 II
TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/sony-bravia-9-ii/debloat.txt com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Google TV debloat guide.
